Six Common Mistakes That New Bloggers Often Do

blogging mistakes
There are many factors to learn in blogging. It’s a learning process. Every blogger wants to get success on blogging. But many of them fail to make a good start. In this post I’m going to share my experiences of the mistakes that new bloggers do. I have surfed many new blogs and seen what the mistakes they are doing. At the very beginning of my blogging I also made some of these mistakes. I found six common mistakes that the new bloggers often do.

Let’s discuss on these mistakes:

Start Blogging Without Goal or a Poor Goal

Many new bloggers start their blog having no goal or with a poor goal. Yesterday I asked one of my friends why he starts blogging. He is a new blogger too and he answered it “A little more money, a little more comfort” But blogging is a long term activity. If you want to make money with it you need times. To make money you will need a good number of traffic. But getting the expected traffic is not so easy. Always keep in mind that you are blogging to help others and to get help from others. This will help you to keep blogging.

Mistakes on Choosing Topics

Almost 25 million bloggers are rolling on the internet everyday. So at present it’s hard to get success on blogging with a poor or only one topic. In that case you can use sub-topics related to the main topic. Suppose, you have a blog on "Movie". You can divide it into sub categories like Hollywood Movies, Asian movies, Animation movies and so on. This will help you to attract the visitors to read your posts.  Moreover you can create other related categories, such as – PC Games, Music or others. So pay attention when selecting topics. Don’t choose these type of topics with which are not easy to get success. Suppose, you have a blog of movie reviews. In this case, you can’t defeat Wikipedia or imDB as they also serve this type of topics. I know it is a poor example but if you understand what I wanted to say, it will be a pleasure to me.

Lack of Original or Unique Content

This is now the most common and biggest mistake of new bloggers. To get real success, your post must be unique. Stealing other’s content can help you to get some visitors but it is not good enough for long term activities. Unexpected traffic down is one of the results of it. You can also get a negative rate on your post. Unique content can make your visitors return back. So it’s important to publish a unique/original post.

Have a Poor Layout/Design

New bloggers should choose the default templates from where they open their blogs. Because default templates are easy to edit and design. If you use custom templates then you need to know basic HTML/JavaScript which may not be easy for new bloggers. However, custom templates are nice looking. Many new bloggers often use unnecessary widgets which decrease the loading speed of their blog. Don’t use unnecessary JavaScript codes on your blog. Nice layout and design will attract the visitors to return back. So be aware of designing and layout.

Too Much Attention to the Statistics

This is a popular problem. New bloggers always pay attention to the statistics or how many visitors they are getting. In that case they use tracking widgets which decrease the loading speed of a blog. If they get a few visitors they become hopeless on blogging. At the very first time of my blogging I also pay attention to visitors. But it has no need. You must keep your eyes off the visitors or page views and keep posting.

Lack of Patience

Some new bloggers get afraid of online competitions and become hopeless. But continuous efforts can give you a better result. As blogging is a long term activity, new blogger’s should have enough patience. Don’t go back seeing the page views or traffic. Always keep in mind that “Time makes money”. Keep posting and enough post can bring you the real success.

Hope you will understand what I want to explain. If you have any question please drop it below.
