writing tips and tricks
Newbies and seasoned bloggers both struggle to achieve the same thing—to increase traffic to their blog.  If you are one of those many people out there who want to earn a living through blogging then you should find all legal means to increase traffic to your site so that you can make the money that you have envisioned.  If you’re having a hard time drawing in new visitors or you want to look for new ways to add more traffic, here are 8 tips you may want to consider:

Give those eyeballs more reasons to stick to your blog

One obvious reason that people will keep on coming back to your website is the content.  This is why it is a must that you should never get tired of posting high quality and relevant content to your blog site.  Take originality and quality out of it and you will soon find yourself doing business outside the blogging world.

Create the catchiest title

As blogging experts postulate that content is king, then people should not forget that the title serves as the crown. If your title isn't catchy, people probably won’t want to click on it.  Your title should at least tell your readers right off the bat what they should expect from the rest of your blog.    So instead of writing “The Perks of a Dog,” you should consider the title “6 Great Reasons People Own a Dog.”

The content must be devoid of anything that deviates from what the title says

Keep your posts short, precise and direct to the point.  Remember that you are aiming for more eyeballs to stick to your website, so you better focus on the topic.  Most people these days just don’t have all the time in the world to read through your unnecessary jokes.   It’s best to keep your paragraphs short and sweet, and try not to cram too many sentences inside each paragraph.  On average, five sentences is usually more than enough.

Employ the inverted pyramid writing style

As mentioned before, most internet users only have a few minutes of attention span for each website.  Therefore, you must immediately mention your most important points at the top of the article and the rest with a decreasing level of importance.

Use simple and understandable language

Depending on the type of readers that you want to target, you should use simple and comprehensible words in your posts.  Use jargons and uncommon idiomatic expressions sparingly.  Otherwise, you will lose the chance to convey the real meaning of your entire post.   Remember, try your best to write on a fourth grade reading level!  You need to relate with everyone out there.

Think about your readers’ questions in mind while they read your posts

Remember that we are not just blogging for our own consumption.  Our blogs are meant to be read by other people whose brains also hunger for new and relevant information.  Thus, consider those questions that your readers would possibly ask while they read your articles.  Make sure that these are being answered as you progress writing with your posts.

Make your blog highly accessible

When you desire to increase traffic to your site, you should not forget about those that aren’t disabled.  Thus, make use of those alt tags when you have images for a group of people so that they can still recognize this when using special voice software.  It would also be wise to make your blog highly readable even for mobile users as well.

Do not ignore your analytics

You have to take the time to track which posts gain a lot of attention from your target readers.  Make sure to update these posts every now and then and continue writing posts under the same niche.

  1. Hey Abdur,

I would add one more thing to the list of tips.
I usually give away the core of the content in the first paragraph. If that resonates with the reader they will go for the whole post and will love it if not they will leave which is ok too.
